Introduction
You have just won a contract to write, direct and film a middle-school puppet show about an asteroid mining colony.
This WebQuest guides you through the steps required to make your puppet show a success.
The Task
Research potential asteroid mining techniques. Develop an educational action-comedy puppet show about these techniques.
The Process and Resources
Phase 1
Do some research about potential asteroid mining techniques.
Plan a storyline (with characters) that will support a 6-episode puppet show about asteroid mining.
Please read Standards Addressed to understand what high school science curriculum content you should cover in your story.
Phase 3
Build the puppets and puppet theather.
Puppet Building: Instructions and Tutorials
Suggestions:
Let each episode have an entirely different location to make the show interesting.
If students are not going to watch the puppet show interactively, have a large (10 square meters) filming stage instead of just a small 2 meter puppet theather.
Phase 4
Could be done at the same time (by different students) as phase 3.
Write the episodes for the action-comedy puppet show.
Suggested themes for six episodes:
Episode 1 - Decision to go - review feasibility study
Episode 2 - In the spaceship - on the way to the asteroid
Episode 3 - Starting the mining operations
Episode 4 - Mining difficulties
Episode 5 - Drama in the living quarters on the asteroid
Episode 6 - Success
(Remeber, this is an educational action-comedy).
Phase 5
Practice the episodes and film it.
