Picture of Neptune's clouds by Voyager 2. The bright clouds are clearly higher than the blue clouds. These clouds are 50 kilometers high and up to 200 kilometers wide. ( Here is a picture of the Voyager 2 spacecraft )

picture Neptune clouds

A false color picture of Neptune by the Voyager 2 spacecraft. Clouds deep within the atmosphere are blue.

Clouds at higher altitudes are shown in white - like the bright, white feature south of the Great Dark Spot. The small pink spot on the right-hand side of the bright, white spot are also some high altitude clouds.

There are hydrogen, helium, and methane within Neptune's atmosphere.
